In 2024 I was privileged to perform the first Robotic Assisted Knee Replacement using the Velys Robotic Assisted Solution in the UK. I regularly offer Robotic Assisted Knee Replacements to my patients; this is currently available at Spire Nottingham Hospital and The Park Hospital.
The advantages of Robotic Assisted Knee Replacement is that the components can be placed within 0.5mm or 0.5 degrees of accuracy, potentially leading to improved early function and reduced pain.
There is some evidence that Robotic Assisted Knee Replacement surgery is associated with better outcomes, but we do not yet know if they reduce the risk of failure of the knee replacements over time.
